Frontier Woods | Chamblee Homes For Sale
Frontier Woods is a single-family home community located in Chamblee, just off of I-85 and Shallowford Road.
Built in the 1960's, on land that once was World War I's Camp Gordon, Frontier Woods is now more than 50 years old! The neighborhood consists of 80 homes on three streets; Frontier Trail, Frontier Court and Pioneer Court.
Frontier Trail, the main street for the community runs between Shallowford Road and Dresden Drive. The other two streets, Frontier Court and Pioneer Court are cul-d-sac streets.
When constructed, the builder offered home buyers a choice of three floor plans:
- 3 Bedroom, 1.5 bath ranch
- 3 Bedroom, 1.5 bath split level
- 4 Bedroom, 1.5 bath split level
Split level homes came with a carport. Exteriors of ranch homes were all brick while the split level homes offered a combination of brick and wood siding. While updated with paint and such, the homes look much the same, but have been enlarged or expanded with additions to the homes.
One boundary of the neighborhood is formed by the North Fork of Peachtree Creek. The other side is Dresden Park, which was recently turned over to the City of Chamblee by DeKalb County so the city will manage it.
Frontier Woods has a small shopping center at Shallowford and I-85, but on the east side of I-85, residents will find a newer shopping center that features a Publix market, along with other stores and restaurants. A Kroger is located at Clairmont and Buford Highway, and a Whole Foods will open in 2017 on Peachtree Blvd in the Peachtree Crossing Shopping Center. International dining options are nearby on Buford Highway, which received an LCI grant in 2016 along with the City of Doraville to study how to upgrade this important and culturally diverse area.
