If you have been wondering about all the movie activity happening in and around Atlanta and Georgia, a great place to learn about it is at the Georgia Production Partnership (GPP) monthly luncheon.
You might also want to consider JOINING GPP! Not only does your membership help support the work of GPP towards the state’s tax incentive, you will be kept up-to-date on upcoming movie productions, special events and more!
If you are interested in Membership with GPP, feel free to contact me, as I’m a member, AND on the Membership Committee.
Here is more information about the August Meeting!
GPP is delighted to welcome Bob Fisher – Stunt Coordinator, Rigger and Stuntman – as our August guest speaker.
Bob will take us behind-the-scenes of many filmed-in-Georgia projects that showcase the unique talents and skills of our stunt people, riggers and stunt coordinators.
From car hits, bailouts, high falls and bar fights to explosions, ski stunts, burns and rappelling – Bob definitely doesn’t spend a “typical day at the office.
Born and raised in western Massachusetts, Bob grew up skiing, canoeing, boating, and climbing.
After high school, he moved to Vail, Colorado and became a “semi-pro” skier, competing in multiple ski competitions and x-games type races.
Meanwhile he spent summers climbing, learning high angle rigging and playing in whitewater, where he learned swift water rescue techniques. As he mastered mountain biking, he learned how to crash… A lot. And he added running heavy equipment, and rigging for rock shows and corporate events to his growing bank of skills.
When it came time to choose his dream, Bob set his sights on becoming a stuntman.
With the help and kindness of working stunt people, he landed several “live show” jobs. And between stunt jobs, he was a full time rigger and learned the craft from some of the best tour riggers and show riggers in the business.
Bob’s rigging skills enhance his stunt work and he’s now been a professional stuntman for 18 years. He loves his work more each day and is grateful that he’s “been lucky enough to do what I have dreamed of doing since I was 8 years old.”
Committed to excellence in every aspect of his work, Bob plans to be stunt performing and coordinating shows for as long as he can – and Georgia-lensed films and TV shows will continue to be a lot more exciting – to make and to watch — thanks to the remarkable work of Bob and his fellow stunt people.

You see them everywhere. Mexican restaurants. But not of all them are the same.
As I share information about Living Near Pinewood Studios Atlanta, one of the features will be to help you know the good, the bad and the ugly of restaurants. I don’t write a post about a restaurant, unless I’ve actually eaten some of the food. It may be just an appetizer, or it could be a full meal…but at least I have sampled something! So Friday, while in Fayetteville, I for some reason ended up driving Highway 54 to the edge of Peachtree City. (Part of it was a wrong address on Google Maps….there I admit it!) And here, I stumbled upon Azul Tequila Taqueria and Cantina.
Azul Tequila Taqueria brings the flavors of authentic Cocina Mexicana (Mexican Cooking) together in a great atmosphere! Besides the Taqueria on the main floor, they have the Cantina Lounge on the upper level with a huge selection of tequila! I’m not sure if this is the “hot spot” on a Friday night, but it might be worth looking into?
One of the first concerns I have in a restaurant is how will the food, or service be at an “off time.” My check says 3:27pm for my late lunch with my business partner. I didn’t sample a Margarita, but opted for a Miller Lite. The menu is plentiful, but I opted to the Lunch section, which was still being served. The time of day made no difference….the service was prompt and friendly…and the food….well…
I selected the Steak Quesadilla and Ray had the Enchilada Suizas. The quesadilla presentation was every bit as good as the flavor! Truly some of the best Mexican food I’ve had. The menu says rice OR beans, but I got both, along with sour cream, avocado, pico de gallo and some shredded lettuce. Needless to say, there was not a crumb left on the plate!
Ray’s Enchilada Suizas was two corn enchilada’s stuffed with shredded beaf, and topped with a to die for cream cheese sauce! Totally YUM!
When Pinewood Studios Atlanta opens nearby in January, this will be a great location to hop over to for lunch or dinner. It’s about 5 miles from the studio entrance, give or take. Traffic moves smoothly on Highway 54 so you should be able to get in and out quickly if lunch off the studio lot is called for!
I have numerous other restaurants to try and tell you about…but I can tell you I’ll be back to Azul Tequila Taqueria and Cantina!

As you consider relocating to the Metro Atlanta area to work at Pinewood Studios Atlanta, you’ll be making a decision about whether you want to enjoy the surburban lifestyle that Fayette County offers, or perhaps the more urban lifestyle of Midtown Atlanta. If you are considering Living Near Pinewood Studios Atlanta, then you might want to consider Longboat Subdivision.
Longboat is a smaller planned community of just 24 single family home lots, and is located in the McIntosh School District on the edge of Peachtree City. This 4-sided brick community is within minutes of Pinewood Studios Atlanta, located on Sandy Creek Road in Fayetteville. This convenient location is perfect to enjoy the amenities of both Peachtree City and Fayetteville.
Longboat amenities include underground utilities, street lamps, protective covenants and a professionally managed homeowners association, a private pond with community boat dock, 1 acre or larger wooded lots. In interesting point….the subdivision homes are on septic tanks! I wonder if this is a reason why I’ve not seen many pools?
Here is just a sampling of some of the Interior Features of homes at Longboat, by Jeff Lindsey Communities:
Some of the Exterior Features include:
When I visited Longboat on Friday, there was no one in the Sales Center. There were two homes Under Construction but I’m not sure if they were spec homes, or were already Under Contract.
Here is the site plan for Longboat, and a sample of one of the homes as well as a photo of one of the homes.

Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Fayetteville
As I work to develop information for people relocating to the Atlanta area to work with/for Pinewood Studios Atlanta, I’m making a point to try various restaurants in the area, and share a personal review of my experience. All these reviews will be found on our main page, Living Near Pinewood Studios Atlanta.
So, on my first trip to Fayette County, when it was time for lunch I was in one of those “give me food or else” modes, and when I saw La Hacienda, I said we’re going here. So we did. Well…
The patio dining was certainly enjoyable as it was not hot outside and a slight breeze was in the air. The decor of the restaurant was pretty authentic Mexican looking, and I LOVED the table clothes. But it pretty much goes downhill from there.
I ordered the Taco Salad (Only $5 at lunch) and it was bland at best. Now I’m not a lover of spicy foods, but the ground beef in the salad had no flavor whatsoever! The taco shell was crunchy, but that sums up most of the meal.
I’ve been recommended to another Mexican option in the area, and I’m hoping it will be worthy.
