Home. It’s What You Make It and WHERE You Make it. The word “home” is defined in many ways:
a house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household. |
2. | the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered. |
3. | an institution for the homeless, sick, etc.: a nursing home. |
4. | the dwelling place or retreat of an animal. |
5. | the place or region where something is native or most common. |
We all know about homes in real estate. We often have to tell our Sellers, “You are not selling your home. This is now a house you are selling and you are taking your memories with you.”
But we humans are not the only ones that make homes. I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of watching nature do it’s thing when it comes to homes!
This past summer, I had the pleasure of a home next to mine. I had to reduce the picture to fit here, but if you look closely, you will see a red arrow in the middle of the tree. Here, is another home. But this one belongs to a family of birds. I’ve scoured the Internet to try and figure out what kind of bird it is, but it’s been a busy one. And I’ve been able to watch the entire process, from eggs to birds. It’s right outside my bedroom window, so I can just stand and watch the Momma Bird fly back and forth feeding her babies.
When I knew the time was fast approaching that the “kids” to be leaving home, one of them was up on the edge of the nest, saying “let’s blow this pop stand!”
Sadly, this little guy seems to have been left behind. I noticed Momma Bird not flying into the nest anymore (yes I know I should of not got close..but she was not flying in there before I checked it out) So I’m not sure he’s going to make it out of his home!
During the Memorial Day weekend around the same time , we were greeted with yet another surprize….
The stripped object is actually my patio umbrella where it had been stood up against the house for the winter, under the eaves of the back patio. Well, it appears a little Chickadee has been busy, and now I’ve got another family in their home! I’ve not heard any noise from this one yet, so perhaps they have not yet hatched! Guess there will be no umbrella on the table for awhile!
Seeing all the work that these birds went into to make a home for their family. Now, I don’t know if there is such a thing as Bird REALTORS, but I think in both cases they picked some pretty good real estate for their homes!
I’m happy they chose my home (or my trees) for their home! It kind of reminds me of the feeling when I find the right home for my Buyers! It takes work, and time, but the rewards are worth it!
If we can help YOU find (or build) that New Home, just click on the picture below and we’ll start looking for the pine straw and moss or the neighborhood and number of bedrooms that will make the house we find YOUR NEW HOME!

It’s always exciting in real estate when you have the opportunity to present a property that is almost a “one-of-a-kind” home. And this Cornerstone Village condominium is JUST that one.
Originally a large 2 bedroom, the current owner made interior renovations to the unit to create 3 FULL bedrooms. Imagine some 1600 PLUS sq. ft of living space! This was done by taking a corner of the living room, and enclosing it. Mind you, don’t think small bedrooms. They are still all very large in size! In fact, the Master Bedroom will easily accommodate a King-sized bed, and a sitting area.
To ready this unique home for the market, the Seller is installing hardwood floors in the living area, tile in the kitchen, baths and entrance foyer AND adding granite counters to the kitchen. Everything will be ready for you, the new owner!
Cornerstone Village Condominiums are in the heart of Midtown Atlanta at 6th and Peachtree Streets. The GATech campus is just 3 blocks away, as is the Midtown MARTA train station. You can also walk to Emory Crawford Long Hospital, Bank of America, AT & T and numerous law offices in Midtown!
Stay tuned for this exciting Midtown living opportunity, coming on the market soon!
Think this might be just what you were looking for? Give me a call and we will get you on the advanced list!

In a letter dated January 31, 2011, the Midtown Neighbors’ Association has expressed its concerns about the proposed interior and exterior renovations to a site in Midtown Atlanta by the Delta Community Credit Union (DCCU).
The letter, from Tony Rizzuto, Land Use Committee Chairman, states that the current site has a single drive-through window, but DCCU wants to expand the drive through service to multiple lanes. Rizzuto further states that the Midtown SPI-16 Zoning Ordinance specifically prohibits drive through service windows and drive-in facilities from being located east of Spring Street or along Storefront Streets.
The site is located just a block from the Midtown MARTA station and the DCCU’s SAP (Special Administrative Permit) is asking for two curb cuts on Cresent Avenue, and another on Peachtree Place to allow for the proposed vehicle traffic.
One of the great things that makes Midtown Atlanta what it is today, and will be in the future is the Midtown Blueprint. This well designed (for the most part) calls for specific types of design with an emphasis on promoting a livable, walkable and sustainable community. Such automobile-centric design proposals still show that the larger business community needs to look past the hood of the car and more to the tennis shoes on the street. Such a design is just fueling (sorry for THAT pun) Atlanta’s continued love affair with their automobiles, and less of a love of their shoes and the street.
Midtown currently ranks as the highest walkable community in the Atlanta area. Residents from both Historic Midtown as well as the numerous condominium communities enjoy the ability to walk from their homes to shopping, restaurants and markets, without the use of a car.
For those unfamiliar with the site, here is a map of the location. It will be interesting to see how this makes it through the City Hall planning process.
