Lin-sanity has swept up the NBA over the last week. Now it seems like the phenomenon has gone worldwide. What can all of us learn from this young man — and how can we apply these same lessons to our own lives when we go back to work on Monday morning?

Designer challenges Novare to a duel over its proposed Midtown apartment highrise
Via Scoop.it – Midtown Atlanta Condos
Did a local designer come up with a better version of SkyHouse Midtown Atlanta than Novare’s designs? New 23-story luxury apartment building is under construction at 12th and West Peachtree Streets in Midtown Atlanta. I first posted about this project in November of last year.
I happened across this article this morning in a round about way. I was downloading pictures I took of the site a week ago as the cranes are now up and at it, as you can see here. I had never seen this article, but I do have to say, the “other design” is certainly more striking, especially when it comes to disguising the garage. I’ve often wondered why there is not a design requirement that masks our mammoth parking garages that are always needed with our buildings.
Due to copywrite laws, I’ve not shared the other plans, but you can find them in the link to the article.

Queen Latifah Considers Atlanta Move to Wynwood (Miami)as Production HQ – Miami Art – Cultist
Via Scoop.it – Georgia Film & TV
Queen Latifah — entertainment mogul, young Oprah, and all-around bad mothereffer — has long been a fan of Miami….and may move her base of operations to Miami from Atlanta! I wonder if anyone from the ATL is trying to KEEP her here with some tax incentives of our own? Doubt it!

Midtown Atlanta Market Report | Plaza Midtown Atlanta January 2012
As a real estate broker, I am constantly watching the market. Looking for trends on a more short term basis and seeing what is going on in the market. We then can go back and look at previous years, or months, and try to make sense of it all.
But this Midtown Atlanta Market Report for Plaza Midtown Atlanta is a wild one. With only 10 homes having activity (the lowest I have ever seen for this building) we have to look at each listing to see the numbers:
- Average List Price – $209,900 (1 Two Bedroom at $219,900 and a 1 bedroom at $199,900 — overpriced indeed)
- One Contingency Pending – A 2 bedroom at $359,900 (Not sure HOW that will appraise out?)
- Under Contract – $203,333 with prices ranging from $160,000 to $200,000
- Under Contract Pending Lender Approval – $188450 which is a 1 Bedroom at $117,000 and a 2 Bdrm at $259,900
- SOLD – Average Price $158,500 with a 1 bedroom at $124,000 and a 2 bedroom at $193,000
Compared to 2007-08 when the building delivered and 2 bedrooms were $330,000- 425,000 the prices have taken a serious beating at Plaza Midtown. Appraisals of past sales (of which most are lower prices) will drive prices, but at the same point, with such limited availability, what will happen? It would probably take a 6 month period of NO SALES in the building so that the values would then be able to start to climb? This is going to be an interesting one to watch.

Former Atlanta Braves Pitcher Derek Lowe’s Buckhead Estate is on the market for $3.5 million. Come take a tour with me! There is a video tour at the 11Alive link, and for more information, the listing is below.
Peachtree Battle has long been a prestigious area of Buckhead, and Derek Lowe’s Buckhead Estate home certainly fits that description. It was finished in 2009 after 18 months of construction. What could you do with 7,000 PLUS square feet of home?

Bank of America Plaza sold at foreclosure sale for $235M | 11alive.com

Midtown Atlanta Landmark Building Sells in Foreclosure Auction for $235M!
The Bank of America Building (pictured here with spire on top) was sold at a courthouse forecloure auction for almost HALF of it’s purchase price in 2006!
Of course, the sale does not affect B of A, as they do not own the building. To bad…it would kind of serve them right to have the tables turned on them for once!
